Intro
Salsa is a subsea tie-back development in the Gulf of Mexico, producing oil and gas through a host platform. It has no standalone surface facility and relies on existing infrastructure for processing and export.
Field
The Salsa Field is located in the Gulf of Mexico and produces from Miocene sandstone reservoirs typical of the region. The field is relatively small and developed as a satellite tie-back to maximise recovery using nearby host facilities.
Facilities
The Salsa development consists of subsea production wells equipped with subsea trees and connected via flowlines and umbilicals to a host platform. Subsea manifolds gather production and route it through a single flowline system. Processing, including separation, oil stabilization, and gas compression, is performed at the host facility. Oil and gas are exported via the host’s pipeline systems into regional Gulf of Mexico infrastructure. Produced water is treated prior to discharge at the host. Subsea control systems use electro-hydraulic umbilicals for remote operation. The development may include injection wells for pressure support. The subsea architecture is designed for reliability and minimal intervention.
