Intro

Bullwinkle is a fixed steel jacket platform in the Gulf of Mexico, installed in 1988 in relatively deep water for its time. It produces oil and gas and includes drilling, processing, and export capabilities. The structure is one of the tallest fixed platforms installed offshore.

Field

The Bullwinkle field lies in Green Canyon, Gulf of Mexico, producing from Miocene sandstone reservoirs. The field is moderate in scale, with multiple stacked reservoir intervals typical of Gulf of Mexico shelf-edge and slope environments.

Facilities

Bullwinkle consists of a large fixed jacket structure supporting drilling rigs, production wells, and processing facilities. Wells are drilled from the platform and completed as dry-tree producers. Produced fluids are routed through separation systems to split oil, gas, and water. Oil is exported via pipeline, while gas is compressed and transported through offshore gas networks. The platform includes produced water treatment systems and utility systems such as power generation, typically via gas turbines. The structure supports multiple decks housing processing equipment, living quarters, and control systems. Export pipelines connect to regional infrastructure. The platform design reflects late-20th-century deepwater engineering, with a tall jacket structure anchored to the seabed and capable of supporting heavy topsides and drilling operations.
