Intro
Ursa is a deepwater tension leg platform located in Mississippi Canyon Block 809 in the U.S. Gulf of Mexico. Installed in 1999, it produces oil and gas and functions as a major regional hub. The facility processes production from its own wells and multiple subsea tie-backs, exporting via dedicated pipeline systems to onshore Louisiana.
Field
The Ursa Field lies in the Mississippi Canyon area and produces from Miocene turbidite sandstone reservoirs. The field is large in scale and forms part of a cluster of developments including Europa and Princess. It was developed as a hub to maximise recovery from multiple nearby accumulations.
Facilities
The Ursa TLP is installed in approximately 3,900 ft (1,189 m) of water and supports both dry-tree wells and numerous subsea tie-backs including fields such as Princess, Europa, and Tarantula. Production is routed through risers to topsides facilities where multi-stage separation, oil stabilization, and gas compression occur. Oil is exported via the Ursa oil pipeline system, which connects into the Mars corridor and onward to Clovelly, Louisiana. Gas is exported via the Ursa gas pipeline into the ANR and other Gulf Coast transmission systems. Produced water is treated prior to discharge. The platform includes water injection and gas lift systems to support reservoir pressure. Power generation is provided by gas turbines. The TLP is moored using vertical tendons and supports top-tensioned risers. Subsea infrastructure includes manifolds, flowlines, and electro-hydraulic umbilicals for well control.
