Intro
Brutus is a deepwater spar production platform in the Gulf of Mexico, producing oil and gas since 2001. It serves as a central hub for multiple subsea developments, combining dry-tree wells and subsea tie-backs. The facility is permanently moored and connected to regional export pipeline systems.
Field
The Brutus field is located in Green Canyon, Gulf of Mexico, producing from Miocene turbidite sandstone reservoirs. The field is moderate to large in scale and includes multiple reservoir intervals typical of deepwater channel and fan systems. Development incorporates both platform-drilled wells and subsea tie-backs from nearby accumulations.
Facilities
Brutus utilizes a deep-draft spar platform supporting dry-tree wells drilled directly from the facility, supplemented by subsea wells tied back via manifolds and flowlines. Production fluids are routed to topside processing systems including multi-stage separation, gas compression, and produced water treatment. Oil is exported via pipeline, while gas is compressed and transported through offshore networks. The platform includes water injection systems for reservoir pressure support. Subsea infrastructure includes risers, flowlines, and umbilicals providing control and chemical injection. Power generation is provided by gas turbines. The spar hull supports vertical risers and provides stability in deepwater conditions. The facility is designed for long-term operation with multiple reservoirs and tie-backs, incorporating flexible routing and robust control systems to manage complex production streams.
