Intro
Lucius is a deepwater spar platform in the Keathley Canyon area of the Gulf of Mexico, producing oil and gas. First production began in 2015. The facility acts as a regional hub, processing hydrocarbons from multiple subsea developments and exporting via pipelines, with capacity for future tie-backs.
Field
The Lucius Field is located in the Keathley Canyon area of the deepwater Gulf of Mexico. Reservoirs are Lower Tertiary sandstones, characterized by complex geology and high pressures. The field represents a significant deepwater development, utilizing subsea wells tied back to a central spar platform for processing and export.
Facilities
The Lucius spar is a deep-draft floating platform supporting extensive topsides processing facilities. Subsea wells are tied back via flowlines and risers, with manifolds distributing production. The facility includes multi-stage separation systems, oil stabilization, and gas compression units. Oil is exported through subsea pipelines to onshore terminals, while gas is compressed and exported into regional gas networks. Produced water is treated and discharged or reinjected. The platform includes robust power generation systems using gas turbines, along with utilities such as water treatment and chemical injection systems. Advanced control systems manage subsea and topsides operations. The spar is moored using a catenary mooring system suitable for deepwater conditions. The design allows for multiple subsea tie-backs, making Lucius a hub for surrounding developments.
