Intro

Marlin is a deepwater floating production facility located in the Gulf of Mexico, producing oil and gas from subsea wells. First production began in the late 1990s. The installation serves as a host for subsea developments, processing hydrocarbons and exporting via regional pipeline infrastructure.

Field

The Marlin Field is located in the Viosca Knoll area of the Gulf of Mexico. Reservoirs consist of deepwater sandstones of Miocene age. The field is part of a cluster of deepwater developments and is typically produced via subsea wells tied back to a central host facility, reflecting a hub-style development approach.

Facilities

The Marlin development comprises subsea production wells tied back to a floating production facility via flowlines and risers. Subsea trees and manifolds gather production from multiple wells and route fluids to the host. Topsides processing includes separation into oil, gas, and water phases, followed by oil stabilization and gas compression. Oil is exported via subsea pipelines into regional crude networks, while gas is compressed and exported through gas transmission lines. Produced water is treated before discharge. The facility includes power generation via gas turbines, chemical injection systems, and control systems for remote subsea operation. The infrastructure supports multiple tie-backs, allowing integration of nearby discoveries. Export routes connect into established Gulf of Mexico pipeline systems, ensuring reliable transport to onshore markets.
