Intro

Thunder Hawk is a deepwater spar platform located in Mississippi Canyon Block 734 in the Gulf of Mexico. First production began in 2009. The facility produces oil and gas and serves as a host for subsea developments, exporting hydrocarbons via pipeline systems.

Field

The Thunder Hawk Field lies in the Mississippi Canyon area and produces from Miocene deepwater sandstone reservoirs. The field is moderate in scale and developed using subsea wells tied back to a central spar platform.

Facilities

The Thunder Hawk spar is installed in approximately 6,050 ft (1,844 m) of water and supports subsea production wells connected via flowlines and steel catenary risers. The facility includes separation systems, oil stabilization, and gas compression. Oil is exported via a 10-inch pipeline connected to the Thunder Horse oil export system, linking into the Mardi Gras Transportation System. Gas is exported via a 10-inch pipeline into regional Gulf of Mexico gas infrastructure. Produced water is treated prior to discharge. The platform includes water injection capability for reservoir support. Power generation is provided by gas turbines. The spar is moored using a catenary mooring system. Subsea infrastructure includes manifolds and electro-hydraulic control systems.
