Intro
Gunnison is a deepwater truss spar production platform in the Gulf of Mexico, installed in 2003. It produces oil and gas from subsea wells and serves as a host facility for nearby developments. The platform is permanently moored and connected to regional export pipeline systems.
Field
The Gunnison field is located in Green Canyon, Gulf of Mexico, producing from Miocene turbidite sandstone reservoirs. The field is moderate in scale, with multiple reservoir compartments typical of deepwater channel and fan depositional systems.
Facilities
Gunnison is based on a truss spar supporting subsea tie-backs via steel catenary risers. Subsea wells are connected through manifolds and flowlines, with production transported to the platform for processing. Topside facilities include oil and gas separation, gas compression, and produced water treatment. Oil is exported via the Poseidon Oil Pipeline system, while gas is compressed and exported through offshore gas pipelines. Subsea infrastructure includes umbilicals for control, chemical injection, and flow assurance. The spar hull provides stability for riser systems and topside equipment. Power is generated onboard using gas turbines. The facility is designed for integration of multiple subsea tie-backs, with flexible routing and control systems enabling efficient management of production streams.
