Intro
Magnolia is a deepwater TLP located in the Garden Banks area of the Gulf of Mexico, producing oil and gas. Installed in 2004, it processes hydrocarbons from both dry-tree wells and subsea tie-backs. The platform exports oil and gas via pipeline systems connected to regional infrastructure.
Field
The Magnolia Field is located in the Garden Banks area of the Gulf of Mexico. Reservoirs consist of Miocene turbidite sandstones with good reservoir quality. The field is a moderate-sized deepwater development, utilizing a TLP to exploit both platform-drilled wells and subsea tie-backs.
Facilities
The Magnolia TLP supports both dry-tree wells drilled from the platform and subsea wells tied back via flowlines. The facility includes separation systems to process multiphase fluids into oil, gas, and water streams. Oil is stabilized and exported via pipeline, while gas is compressed and exported through subsea gas pipelines. Produced water is treated prior to discharge. The platform includes gas compression units, separation trains, and water handling systems. Power generation is provided by gas turbines using produced gas. The TLP is moored with vertical tendons, providing stability for drilling and production operations. Control systems manage both surface and subsea wells. Export pipelines connect the facility to broader Gulf of Mexico infrastructure networks, enabling integration with onshore processing facilities.
