Intro

DP6 is a normally unattended fixed steel jacket wellhead platform in the South Morecambe gas field, installed in 1989 in UK Block 110/2a. It produces natural gas to the South Morecambe hub, exporting via subsea pipeline to the Central Production Complex (CPC). The platform has no permanent accommodation and relies on remote control.

Field

DP6 sits within the South Morecambe gas field, part of the Morecambe gas fields in the East Irish Sea, discovered in 1974 (South) and developed around a central CPC with satellite wellhead platforms. The field produces from Triassic Sherwood sandstones via multiple small fixed structures tied back to central processing.

Facilities

DP6 hosts several production wells on its steel jacket but no major separation or processing trains. Well fluids are flowed via dedicated pipelines and control umbilicals to the South Morecambe CPC where slug catching and main separation occur. At CPC, trim separation of gas, condensate and water is performed; gas is dehydrated and metered for export via the Barrow Gas Terminal system, and water is treated for discharge. DP6’s topsides include well control, utilities for remote operation, emergency shutdown systems, and flow control manifolds. Power, communications and chemical injection services are delivered from the CPC via subsea umbilicals. The platform lacks permanent accommodation and central processing, relying on the South Morecambe hub for gas conditioning and export.
