Intro
DP8 is a normally unattended fixed steel jacket wellhead platform installed in 1989 in the South Morecambe gas field, UK Block 110/2a. It produces natural gas that is routed to the South Morecambe central processing complex. Like DP6, DP8 is unmanned and connected via subsea pipelines and umbilicals to the CPC.
Field
DP8 operates in the South Morecambe gas field, part of the Irish Sea Morecambe Hub which includes South Morecambe, North Morecambe and Rhyl fields. South Morecambe produces from Triassic Sherwood sandstone reservoirs and is tied into a central hub with several normally unattended wellhead platforms.
Facilities
DP8 supports multiple production wells flowing gas via jack-mounted manifolds into subsea pipelines tied back to the South Morecambe Central Production Complex. No primary separation occurs on DP8; fluids are delivered to the CPC where bulk separation, dehydration and metering prepare gas for export via dedicated export pipelines to the Barrow Gas Terminal onshore. Topside equipment on DP8 includes flowlines, wellheads, remote monitoring/control systems, emergency shutdown and minimal utility systems. Power and control signals are provided from the CPC via subsea umbilicals. DP8’s infrastructure integrates with the South Morecambe field network, enabling efficient gathering of multiple well streams for centralised processing and export.
