Intro
L2-FA-1 is a fixed offshore gas production platform in block L2 of the Dutch North Sea, brought onstream in 1992. It produces natural gas and serves as the central processing and export node for the L2-FA and associated L2-FB fields. The platform has accommodation and helicopter facilities.
Field
The L2-FA gas field was discovered in 1968 and commenced production via L2-FA-1 in 1992. It produces conventional gas from Rotliegendes reservoirs offshore the Netherlands, with L2-FB later tied back into the platform.
Facilities
L2-FA-1 hosts multiple production wells with wellheads tied to integrated topside processing modules that separate gas from liquids and water. Facilities include dehydration and metering to meet export standards. The platform supports accommodation, helicopter operations, electrical generation, and control systems for ongoing production. Utilities cover instrument air, cooling, and safety systems such as emergency shutdown and fire/gas detection. Export infrastructure includes subsea pipelines connecting to the NGT/Nogat trunklines to onshore gas treatment and distribution systems. The installation’s design supports long-term operations, with robust structural and subsea integrity measures and periodic maintenance performed by offshore support vessels.
