Intro

K15-FA-1 is a fixed steel jacket integrated platform in Block K15 of the Dutch Southern North Sea, commissioned in the late 1970s. It acts as a primary production and gathering hub for the K15 gas field, handling gas from its own wells and satellite platforms (K15-FC-1, K15-FG-1, K15-FK-1), with export connections to K14-FA and onshore pipelines.

Field

The K15 field within the K14-K18 gas province produces natural gas from Rotliegendes sandstone reservoirs. Production began in 1977. The field is developed as an interconnected cluster with central platforms and satellite installations to maximise recovery. It delivers high-calorific and low-calorific gas into shared export infrastructure to the Dutch continental shelf’s pipeline network.

Facilities

K15-FA-1 accommodates several production wells with manifold headers tying into topside facilities for initial separation of gas, water and condensate. It receives additional flows from satellite platforms K15-FC-1, K15-FG-1 and K15-FK-1 via subsea flowlines. Gas treatment includes inlet separation, dehydration and compression to meet export pressure requirements. Processed gas is exported via pipelines to onshore networks or routed through K14 hubs depending on calorific specification. Utilities include onboard power generation (gas turbines), produced-water handling, flare systems, and integrated process control enabling remote and unmanned operation. Supporting systems such as corrosion inhibitors, chemical injection and safety shutdowns are permanent features. Structural design is a fixed jacket supporting drilling, processing modules and helideck.
