Intro

K8-FA-3 is a fixed jacket satellite platform in the K8 block of the Southern North Sea, commissioned in the mid-1980s. Serving as a wellhead and gathering node, it ties into the main K8-FA-1 platform for processing and onward export of natural gas produced from the field’s Rotliegendes reservoirs.

Field

The K8 field’s geological development is part of the broader K7-K12 gas province. Reservoirs are Rotliegendes sandstones delivering high-calorific gas. Satellites like K8-FA-3 extend reservoir access and tie back to the core K8-FA-1 hub for processing and export.

Facilities

K8-FA-3 includes production well slots and manifolds feeding gas via subsea pipelines to the host. There is no major processing on the platform itself; separation, dehydration, compression, and export metering occur at K8-FA-1. The platform relies on subsea controls, flow assurance measures, and integration into the host’s power and safety systems. Structural elements are fixed jacket legs with riser support. Remote instrumentation and control enable field development efficiency. Export flows join the K8 cluster’s pipeline network to shore or larger processing hubs.
