Intro

Oseberg Øst is a fixed production, drilling and quarters platform on the Oseberg East oil field in the northern North Sea. It was developed with an integrated PDQ facility, starting production in 1999, and handles early-stage oil and gas separation. After initial processing the stream is forwarded to the Oseberg Field Centre for further processing and export.

Field

The Oseberg Øst field sits ~15-km east of the main Oseberg field in the Norwegian North Sea. It was discovered in 1981 with production starting in 1999. The reservoir comprises Middle Jurassic Brent Group sandstones with varied characteristics across fault blocks. Oil is routed via pipeline for further processing at the Oseberg complex and onward export via the Oseberg Transport System (OTS).

Facilities

Oseberg Øst’s fixed topsides contain drilling facilities, first-stage separation of oil, water and gas, and quarters. Wells are drilled directly from the platform into fault-block reservoirs, producing fluids that undergo initial three-phase separation. Stabilised oil and associated gas are routed through flowlines to the Oseberg Field Centre where higher-stage separation, gas compression and dehydration occur before export. The platform includes utility systems for power generation, water handling, and gas lift/injection support. Export infrastructure ties into OTS pipelines to Sture terminal (oil) and uses produced gas for injection and fuel gas on the Oseberg complex. Standard safety, flare and control systems support stable mid-life operations in moderate North Sea water depths.
