Intro

Wingate is a fixed steel jacket platform producing natural gas and condensate from the Wingate field in the UK Southern North Sea, Block 44/24b. Commissioned in 2011, it is remotely operated from Wintershall’s control center and connects to export infrastructure via a subsea pipeline to the Dutch D15-FA platform. It includes wellhead facilities, power generation, and control systems, but full gas processing occurs at the export tie-in.

Field

The Wingate field produces from Upper Rotliegendes sandstone reservoirs, discovered in 2008. The development was designed for moderate reserves, leveraging remote operation and pipeline tie-backs for efficient export. The field forms part of the cross-border Southern North Sea gas network, integrated with nearby Dutch facilities.

Facilities

The Wingate platform hosts multiple production wells with risers feeding into subsea pipelines. Gas and condensate flow through a 12-inch pipeline (PL2850/W50) to the D15-FA platform in the Netherlands for full processing and onward transport to shore. Wingate includes local utilities for power generation, instrumentation, emergency shutdown systems, and telemetry to the remote operations center in Den Helder, NL. Onboard safety systems include fire and gas detection, well control, and flame monitoring. The installation is designed for unmanned operation, with periodic maintenance and inspections conducted offshore. Structural design accommodates risers, wellhead decks, and access for inspection. The integration with regional pipelines and cross-border control centers allows efficient gas delivery while minimizing offshore footprint. Decommissioning planning has been included as part of long-term asset management.
