Umm Shaif
Umm Shaif is a shallow-water offshore oil-and-gas complex comprising fixed wellhead towers and the bridge-linked Umm Shaif Super Complex. Production began on 11 June 1962. Located approximately 150 kilometres north-west of Abu Dhabi in less than 20 metres of water, it gathers and processes crude, associated gas and gas-cap production before pipeline transfer to Das Island.

Field
Umm Shaif is a giant, mature field in the Arabian Gulf sector of the Arabian Basin, discovered in 1958. Its principal reservoir is the Upper Jurassic Arab Formation, a thick carbonate–evaporite succession divided into Arab A–D units. The field contains a substantial gas cap and is developed through distributed wellhead towers, with water and sour-gas injection used for reservoir-pressure support.
Facilities
Umm Shaif is developed through numerous fixed wellhead towers connected by well-fluid pipelines to the Umm Shaif Super Complex. The bridge-linked complex centralises separation, compression, injection, utilities, control and accommodation. Documented long-term installations include the CP-1 compression platform, an accommodation and utilities platform, and an oil-separation platform connected to a produced-water disposal well. Earlier infrastructure also incorporated collector and separator platforms, a water-injection barge, power generation and central control facilities. Well fluids are separated into crude, gas and produced water at the complex. Oil is conditioned and pumped through the permanent Umm Shaif–Das Island oil pipeline. Condensate can be exported through a dedicated 18-inch pipeline or blended into the 36-inch main oil line. Gas-processing facilities include compression and dehydration. The gas-injection system injects sour gas into the Arab C and D reservoirs, while a separate water-injection system provides additional pressure maintenance. Gas also leaves through the Umm Shaif–Das Island gas pipeline. Under the Integrated Gas Development system, offshore gas is received and processed at Das Island before onward transmission through the approximately 200-kilometre Das Island–Habshan pipeline. Supporting systems include production and injection manifolds, metering, chemical injection, electrical generation, flare and pressure relief, firewater, fire-and-gas detection, emergency shutdown, telecommunications and living quarters. The complex has no offshore crude-storage or tanker-offloading function; hydrocarbon export is pipeline-based.
