Britannia BLP

The Britannia Bridge-Linked Platform (BLP) is a fixed production and utilities structure in the Britannia gas/condensate field, UK Central North Sea, installed in 2006 and linked by a ~92-m bridge to the main Britannia platform. BLP receives fluids from satellite fields and supports processing and export functions integrated with the Britannia complex.

Field

The Britannia field spans Blocks 15/29 and 16/26 in the Central North Sea; discovered in the 1970s with first production in 1998, it produces large gas and condensate volumes. Satellite fields such as Brodgar, Callanish and Enochdhu tie back subsea to the Britannia facilities.

Facilities

Britannia BLP's facilities include well fluid reception from satellites via subsea lines, bulk separation and intermediate processing before transfer to the main Britannia platform. BLP features manifolds, separator vessels, metering, pig receivers and tie-ins to pipelines. Gas and condensate flows to Britannia where further compression/dehydration and export occur via the dedicated Britannia gas pipeline to the St. Fergus SAGE terminal and via the Forties pipeline system to Kerse of Kinneil for liquids processing. BLP integrates utilities including electrical distribution, distributed control systems (DCS), ESD/fire & gas detection, instrument air and chemical injection systems for corrosion and hydrate control. The bridge to Britannia provides access for personnel, power and communications, enabling coordinated operations. Accommodation and major processing units reside on the main Britannia platform; BLP focuses on reception and preliminary processing.
