Buzzard WH

The Buzzard Wellhead Platform (W) is the dedicated wellhead jacket in the Buzzard field, installed in 2007. It hosts the well slots and subsea tie-in infrastructure for up to ~27 production wells, delivering fluids to the central processing complex via infield flowlines. It bridges to the Production (P) and Utilities/Quarters (UQ) platforms.

Field

Buzzard is a major oil field in the Outer Moray Firth producing medium sour crude and associated gas. W anchors the platform network, supporting drilling and well interfaces in a high-productivity reservoir developed for long-term export via pipelines to shore.

Facilities

The W platform comprises a four-leg piled steel jacket with an integrated deck hosting conductor guides, well conductors and Xmas trees for up to ~27 wells. It includes access for drilling and well intervention operations via jack-ups, manifolds, choke and kill lines, and flowlines to transport multiphase fluids to the Production platform. Basic utility functions include local instrument power, remote safety shutdown valves, fire & gas detection, and control system interfaces linked to central processing and the distributed control system across the Buzzard complex. Onboard pig receivers and tie-ins support flow assurance. There is minimal processing capability as fluids are routed to P for separation and conditioning. Structural provisions include helideck access via the UQ bridge connection, emergency egress and integration with the field's safety and ESD infrastructure. The design accommodates North Sea metocean conditions and long-term asset operation.
