The central Processing, Utilities & Quarters (PUQ) platform for the Shearwater field, bridge-linked to the Shearwater A wellhead platform. Commissioned around 2000, it consolidates separation, dehydration, compression and export functions with living quarters and utility systems for field operations in an HP/HT environment.

Field

Shearwater's reservoir produces high-pressure gas and condensate in the Central North Sea. Geology includes Rotliegend and associated sands with HP/HT conditions requiring specialized infrastructure. The field development uses a two-platform arrangement to optimize production and processing.

Facilities

Shearwater C is a large steel jacket platform hosting the primary processing train: multiphase separators, gas dehydration (glycol units), gas compression, condensate stabilization and export metering systems. Incoming flows from Shearwater A are conditioned (gas/liquid separation), dehydrated and boosted for export through the Fulmar Gas Line to onshore terminals; condensate is metered and routed via the Forties Pipeline System. The PUQ area includes utilities such as gas turbine power generation, instrument air, cooling water systems and fire-fighting infrastructure. Living quarters accommodate operational personnel, and full control systems manage production, safety, and communications. Redundancy and HP/HT rated equipment are integral due to reservoir conditions.
