Field

The Cormorant oilfield, in Block 211/26a, is a conventional oil accumulation discovered in 1972 producing from deeper reservoir sandstones. Development centers on concrete gravity platforms that host drilling, production and export facilities feeding the Brent System and associated pipelines.

Facilities

The broader Cormorant infrastructure includes gravity base platforms (e.g., Cormorant Alpha) with well slots for multiple production and injection wells. Processing facilities include multiphase separation, water injection systems for reservoir support, metering and export pumps. Oil is exported via the Brent System pipeline to Sullom Voe, while associated gas enters the Vesterled/FLAGS export routes. Utilities include platform power generation, fire/gas systems, and accommodation decks. Wellheads are manifolded with flowlines tied into the main topsides process modules. Redundancy and safety features such as emergency shutdown, flare stacks, and produced water treatment systems are integrated. Periodic maintenance, inspections, and regulatory compliance routines support sustained operations in a harsh offshore environment.
