Lomond

The Lomond platform is a fixed steel jacket gas and condensate production facility in Block-23/21a of the UK Central North Sea, commissioned in the early 1990s. It serves as an integrated wellhead, production and processing installation handling hydrocarbons from the Lomond and nearby Erskine fields, and exports gas and liquids via regional pipelines.

Field

The Lomond field is a conventional gas-condensate reservoir in Block-23/21a, discovered in 1972, with production beginning in the early 1990s. It produces gas with associated liquids from marine sandstones at moderate depth. The field is part of the Central North Sea portfolio, with Erskine tied back to Lomond for processing and export.

Facilities

Lomond's steel jacket supports well slots that host multiple production and injection wells tied into topside manifolds. The installation includes primary separators for gas, condensate and water. Produced gas is dehydrated and metered before export via the Central Area Transmission System (CATS) pipeline to the onshore terminal at Teesside; condensate is stabilized and sent via the Forties pipeline to Kinneil for processing. Utilities include onboard power generation (gas turbines/engines), instrument air, chemical injection for hydrate and corrosion control, and fire-gas-water systems. Control and process systems manage flow rates, pressures and safety shutdowns, with remote monitoring and periodic maintenance visits. The platform also supports accommodation for crew rotations. Subsea infrastructure integrates the Erskine field via an 18-mile flowline and control umbilical, with fluids processed through Lomond's module before export.
