Dunbar

The Dunbar platform is a fixed offshore production facility in Block-3/14a of the UK North Sea, commissioned in the mid-1990s. It produces oil and associated gas, with limited onsite processing, exporting primary fluids to the Alwyn North complex for full processing and export. It serves as a satellite production hub in the northern North Sea.

Field

The Dunbar oil and gas field, discovered in 1973, is developed as part of the Alwyn Area in the northern North Sea. The field produces both oil and gas from conventional reservoirs, with production piped to Alwyn North for treatment and export to onshore networks via established pipelines.

Facilities

Dunbar's jacket supports production wells drilled into the reservoir and equipped with manifolds and multiphase pumps. Initial separation may occur on Dunbar, but the bulk of processing (detailed separation, gas dehydration and compression) is conducted at the nearby Alwyn North (NAB) platform. Dunbar's facilities include subsea flowlines and multiphase pumps forwarding fluids to Alwyn North, utility control systems, basic process and chemical injection for flow assurance, and safety systems (firewater, emergency shutdowns). Power and fresh water are supplied via subsea cables from Alwyn North. Accommodation is limited but sufficient for routine maintenance crews. The platform's integration into the Alwyn Area infrastructure ensures efficient reservoir drawdown and export to the broader UK network, with oil exported via the Ninian Pipeline System and gas via FUKA to St-Fergus.
