Armada

A large fixed steel jacket gas/condensate production and processing platform in the UK Central North Sea, installed and first producing in 1997. It serves as the central hub for the Armada complex and processes gas and condensate from multiple wells and subsea tie-backs. Export infrastructure connects it to major gas and liquids pipelines onshore.

Field

The Armada gasfield complex lies ~250-km east-northeast of Aberdeen in Blocks 16/29a, 16/29c, 22/5a/b and 22/4a of the UK Continental Shelf. Discovered in 1980 and developed starting mid-1990s, it produces from Palaeocene Maureen and Jurassic sandstone reservoirs. The development comprises multiple accumulations (e.g., Fleming, Hawkins, Drake, Seymour) tied into a central platform.

Facilities

The Armada platform carries well slots feeding subsea wells and manifold tie-ins for multi-zone production from central and satellite accumulations. Fluids are brought up to a primary three-phase separation train "vertical and horizontal separators tailored for varied field inputs" followed by gas compression, dehydration and condensate handling. The gas processing system includes booster compression and TEG dehydration ahead of export. Conditioned gas is exported via the Central Area Transmission System (CATS) to Teesside; condensate is exported via the Forties Pipeline System to Grangemouth/Kinneil. Utilities on the topsides include power generation, HVAC, produced water handling and safety systems sized for long-term unmanned/manned operations. The accommodation block supports the rostered crew, with control systems integrating well, process and export functions. Robust structural design and processing capacity provide a stable hub for adjacent subsea tie-backs and remote fields.
