Arbroath

A fixed steel jacket production platform in Block 22/17s of the UK Central North Sea, installed in 1989 with first production in 1990. It serves the Arbroath oil field and acts as a local node feeding production into broader area infrastructure.

Field

The Arbroath field is part of the Montrose/Arbroath (MonArb) area within blocks like 22/17s. Oil is produced from Palaeocene sandstones and Jurassic formations, with adjacent subsea tie-backs like Godwin and Arkwright. MonArb connects several fields around the Montrose hub.

Facilities

Arbroath's infrastructure includes a cross-braced steel jacket with topside decks for production separation, well control, and export interfaces. It typically receives flow from its own wells and subsea tie-backs like Godwin (extended reach wells). Arbroath exports oil via flowlines into the nearby Montrose Alpha platform, which acts as the area's processing hub; Montrose and Arbroath integrate through the MonArb Area Redevelopment (MAR) project, which added capacity and connectivity. Oil is then exported through the Forties Pipeline System to onshore terminals. Associated gas may be exported via the WAGE (Wood And Gas Export) module and onward through the Central Area Transmission System (CATS). Utilities include platform power generation, compressed air, firewater and safety systems, as well as well control and subsea umbilicals. Accommodation and support services are limited due to the platform's primarily production focus. Control systems manage subsea tie-backs, export metering and safety shut-downs. Arbroath's integration with Montrose's processing facilities allows combined field life extension under the MAR upgrades.
