Hamilton A

Hamilton A is a fixed steel jacket gas production platform in Liverpool Bay, UK Block 110/13. Installed in the mid-1990s, it produces natural gas from the Hamilton field and exports hydrocarbon fluids via subsea pipelines to the Douglas Complex and the Point of Ayr Gas Terminal onshore Wales. It is unmanned with wellhead and limited processing capacity.

Field

The Hamilton gas field is a conventional Triassic sandstone accumulation in Liverpool Bay, discovered and developed in the 1990s with production commencing in the mid-1990s. It contains significant gas volumes with production centered on several platforms including Hamilton A and Hamilton North tied into regional processing.

Facilities

Hamilton A supports multiple well slots producing gas and minor condensate on its steel jacket. Wellstreams are combined in manifolds and transmitted via subsea flowlines to the Douglas Complex where interpretation, separation, dehydration and export conditioning occur. Gas is then routed via pipeline to the Point of Ayr Gas Terminal in Flintshire, Wales. Hamilton A's topside includes well control, flow isolation valves, and basic process equipment for initial gas handling but not full gas conditioning. Electrical distribution, safety shutdown (ESD), instrument air and communications systems link the platform to Douglas and onshore control. The unmanned platform uses remote telemetry; utilities are sized for NUI operations rather than permanent habitation. Structural design accommodates shallow water Liverpool Bay conditions and typical North Sea metocean forces, preserving integrity over decades of operation.
