Mariner PDQ

Mariner PDQ is a large fixed steel production, drilling, and quarters platform located in the UK Central North Sea, Block 9/11a. Installed and commissioned in 2019, it is designed for heavy oil production and drilling operations. The platform provides full processing, drilling, and accommodation facilities and is directly connected to the Mariner FSU for oil storage and export.

Field

The Mariner oil field lies in the Outer Moray Firth basin, approximately 150 km east of the Shetland Islands. It contains heavy oil within Paleocene sandstone reservoirs, principally the Maureen Formation. The field is a large, long-life development with high in-place volumes, produced using extensive drilling and artificial lift.

Facilities

Mariner PDQ supports drilling, production, processing, and living quarters on a single integrated structure. The platform is equipped with multiple drilling slots supporting extended-reach production and injection wells. Processing facilities include three-phase separation, crude oil stabilization, produced water treatment, and gas handling for fuel and reinjection. Due to heavy oil characteristics, systems include heating and enhanced flow assurance provisions. Water injection systems support reservoir pressure maintenance. Power generation is provided by onboard gas turbine generators. The platform houses a large accommodation block, helideck, workshops, and central control room. Processed crude oil is exported via subsea pipeline to the Mariner FSU for storage. Utilities include seawater lift, firewater and deluge systems, chemical injection, instrument air, and integrated safety systems. The fixed steel jacket is designed for harsh North Sea conditions and long-term operation.
