Field

The Montrose field is located in the Central North Sea and produces oil from Upper Jurassic sandstone reservoirs. Facilities

The Import SSIV is installed on the seabed along the incoming pipeline route to Montrose BLP. It provides rapid isolation of hydrocarbons in the event of an emergency, protecting the platform and personnel from uncontrolled pipeline releases. The valve is hydraulically or electrically actuated and controlled remotely from the Montrose control system. It is designed to fail-safe to the closed position upon loss of control signal or power. The SSIV is housed in a protective subsea structure and connected via umbilicals supplying power, control, and monitoring signals. It forms part of the platform's overall emergency shutdown and pipeline integrity management system. The installation requires minimal intervention and is designed for long-term subsea operation with periodic inspection and maintenance using remotely operated vehicles.
