Field

The Culzean gas field lies in the Central North Sea and produces from Triassic Skagerrak sandstone reservoirs at high pressure and high temperature. Discovered in 2008, Culzean is a major UK gas development designed to supply a significant proportion of national demand over its life.

Facilities

The Wellhead Platform supports multiple high-pressure gas production and injection wells drilled from the jacket. Well fluids are routed via bridge-linked pipework to the Processing Platform for full treatment. Facilities include surface wellheads, manifolds, chemical injection systems, and high-integrity pressure protection systems designed for extreme reservoir conditions. Power, control, and utilities are supplied from the adjacent Utilities Living Quarters platform. Safety systems include emergency shutdown valves, fire and gas detection, and pressure relief systems. The fixed steel structure is designed to accommodate HPHT well loads and long-term drilling and production operations. The platform operates as a normally manned installation during drilling campaigns and integrates fully with the Culzean hub control systems.
