Pazflor lies approximately 150 kilometres offshore Luanda in the deep-water Lower Congo Basin. It combines the Perpetua, Hortensia and Zinia Miocene accumulations, containing relatively heavy and viscous oil, with the deeper Acacia Oligocene accumulation containing lighter crude. Facilities
The original Pazflor development comprised 49 subsea wells: 25 oil producers, 22 water injectors and two gas injectors. Approximately 180 kilometres of subsea lines connect the wells, manifolds and injection infrastructure to the FPSO. The Miocene development incorporates three subsea gas–liquid separation units. Each unit contains a separator, a distribution manifold and two retrievable hybrid pumps that combine multiphase and centrifugal stages. Gas is routed separately toward the FPSO while the pumps boost the heavier liquid stream, reducing backpressure on the viscous-oil wells. Onboard facilities provide inlet separation, crude treatment and stabilisation, gas separation and compression, produced-water handling, seawater treatment and high-pressure water injection. Compressed gas supports the two dedicated gas-injection wells and onboard fuel requirements. Installed supporting systems include production and export metering, chemical injection, electrical generation and distribution, flare and pressure relief, firewater, fire-and-gas detection, emergency shutdown, subsea controls and marine utilities. The ship-shaped FPSO is approximately 325 metres long and 62 metres wide. Fifteen principal topside modules are carried above a purpose-built hull with storage for about 1.9 million barrels of crude. Sixteen subsea mooring connections maintain the vessel at a fixed heading; it does not use a weathervaning turret. Normal accommodation is approximately 180 people, with capacity for up to 240. Stabilised crude is stored in hull cargo tanks and periodically transferred to export tankers through the vessel’s offshore offloading system.
