P-69 FPSO
A purpose-built, ship-shaped replicant FPSO serving the Tupi Extreme South development in the Santos Basin. First oil was achieved in October 2018. Permanently stationed about 290 kilometres offshore Rio de Janeiro in approximately 2,150 metres of water, it receives oil-and-gas production from subsea wells, processes and stores crude, treats associated gas, supports reservoir injection and offloads oil to export tankers.

Tupi Extreme South is a development module within the giant Tupi field on the Santos Basin Outer High. Its pre-salt reservoirs are heterogeneous Lower Cretaceous lacustrine carbonates, principally the Aptian Barra Velha Formation, with additional reservoir intervals in Itapema coquinas, beneath the regional Ariri evaporite seal. The module is developed by subsea producing and injection wells tied directly to a dedicated deepwater FPSO.
Facilities
P-69 was configured for eight subsea production wells and seven subsea injection wells. Subsea trees connect to the FPSO through production and injection flowlines, risers and control umbilicals, making the vessel the Tupi Extreme South module’s processing, injection, storage and export hub. P-69 belongs to the standardised replicant series. Incoming well fluids undergo three-phase separation and oil treatment before stabilised crude enters the cargo tanks. In the replicant gas arrangement, separator and vapour-recovery gas enters main compression, followed by dehydration, hydrocarbon-dew-point control and membrane treatment for carbon-dioxide removal. The treated stream can then enter export or injection compression, supply fuel gas or provide gas lift; the carbon-dioxide-rich membrane stream is also compressible for reservoir injection. Water-treatment and high-pressure pumping facilities serve the injector wells for pressure support. The standardised electrical plant uses four gas-turbine generator packages in a three-operating, one-standby arrangement. The purpose-built double-hull vessel is approximately 288 metres long, 54 metres wide and 31.5 metres deep, with crude storage of about 1.6 million barrels. Its topsides are divided into standardised processing and utility modules on a box-shaped hull. Stabilised crude is retained in cargo tanks between lifting operations and transferred through the FPSO’s offloading system to visiting tankers. P-69 remains permanently stationed in ultra-deep water while the subsea risers and umbilicals maintain production, injection, control and gas-service connections to the field wells.
