P-67 FPSO

A purpose-built, ship-shaped replicant FPSO installed in the Lula North area of Brazil’s Santos Basin. Production commenced on 1 February 2019. The unit is stationed about 260 kilometres off Rio de Janeiro in approximately 2,130 metres of water. It gathers fluids from subsea producers, separates and treats oil and gas, supports reservoir injection, stores stabilised crude and exports oil by lifting vessels and gas by pipeline.

Field

Lula North is a development module within the giant Lula field on the Santos Basin Outer High. The reservoir lies beneath the regional Aptian Ariri evaporite seal and consists mainly of heterogeneous lacustrine carbonates of the Barra Velha Formation. The supergiant oil-and-gas accumulation is developed through multiple deepwater FPSOs, each connected to a dedicated subsea producer-and-injector network and associated pipeline-export infrastructure.

Facilities

P-67 was planned around nine subsea production wells and six subsea injector wells. Subsea trees, manifolds, production and injection flowlines, risers and control umbilicals connect the wells with the vessel. The unit is the third operating member of the pre-salt replicant series and applies the standardised replicant processing scheme. Well fluids first undergo three-phase separation. The oil train includes free-water knock-out followed by two electrostatic treatment stages for crude dehydration and desalting before storage. Separator and vapour-recovery gas enter main compression, then molecular-sieve dehydration, a Joule–Thomson hydrocarbon-dew-point-control stage and carbon-dioxide-removal membranes. Downstream compression provides the pressure required for pipeline export and reservoir injection; separated carbon-dioxide-rich gas can be compressed for reinjection rather than entering the sales-gas route. The integrated topsides also contain injection-water treatment and pumping facilities serving the injector wells. Four standard gas-turbine generator packages, arranged with three operating and one standby, supply the main process, compression, injection, utility, marine and living-quarter loads. The purpose-built box-shaped hull and modular topsides were constructed as part of the replicant programme, with standardised interfaces for wells, lines and manifolds. Stabilised crude is held in the vessel’s cargo tanks and removed by lifting tankers. Treated associated gas is exported through the permanent Santos Basin pre-salt gas-pipeline routes, while the FPSO remains permanently stationed in ultra-deep water.
