Åsgard B

Åsgard B is a semi-submersible floating processing platform in the Åsgard field on Haltenbanken in the Norwegian Sea, brought on stream in 2000. It provides gas treatment and stabilisation of oil and condensate as part of this large central Norwegian Sea infrastructure.

Field

The Åsgard field, discovered in 1981, spans multiple accumulations (Midgard, Smørbukk, Smørbukk South, etc.) in ~240-300-m water depth. Developed with production, gas processing and storage vessels, the field produces oil, gas and condensate from Jurassic sandstone reservoirs.

Facilities

Åsgard B supports processing of rich gas and condensate received from subsea wells and nearby fields. The topsides include separation, gas treatment, dehydration, compression and condensate stabilisation units. Oil and condensate may be transferred to Åsgard A and stored, with gas exported via the Åsgard Transport System to onshore gas processing at Kårstø. The semisubmersible hull with pontoon supports heavy process modules and living quarters. Integration with subsea templates extends connectivity to satellite fields such as Mikkel and Morvin. Utilities include onboard power generation, cooling, flare systems, and centralized control systems. The facility also interfaces with Åsgard C for condensate storage and offloading.
