Heidrun

Heidrun is a world-first floating concrete tension-leg platform (TLP) in the Norwegian Sea, producing both oil and gas since 1995. The installation sits over an extensive subsea template system and is connected to a permanently moored floating storage unit (FSU) for oil export, also serving gas export pipelines.

Field

The Heidrun field on Haltenbanken was discovered in 1985. Reservoirs include Lower and Middle Jurassic sandstones in the Ã…re, Tilje, Ile and Garn formations at ~2300-m depth. The development uses multiple subsea templates tied to the TLP, with water and gas injection for pressure support.

Facilities

Heidrun's TLP supports ~51 production, ~24 sea water injection and one gas injection well drilled from the platform, anchored to seabed with tethers. Hydrocarbon processing includes separation, dehydration, gas compression and water handling; produced oil is transferred to the Heidrun B FSU for shuttle tanker export. Gas is exported via Haltenpipe to Tjeldbergodden and via Ã…TS to Kårstø for further export. The platform integrates utilities (power generation, water injection systems, control systems) and supports subsea tie-backs including Dvalin gas through dedicated gas treatment modules. Long lifecycle design addresses structural loads, dynamic TLP mooring and subsea hydraulics.
