34/7 HY02

34/7 HY02 is a floating wind turbine within the Hywind Tampen offshore wind farm in the Norwegian North Sea. Installed during the 2022-2023 construction campaign, it supplies renewable power directly to offshore oil and gas facilities. The turbine operates as part of an integrated floating wind array rather than a standalone installation.

Field

Hywind Tampen serves the Snorre and Gullfaks fields in the Norwegian sector of the North Sea. These fields produce oil and gas from Jurassic sandstone reservoirs, while the wind farm itself occupies a nearby offshore area selected for wind conditions and proximity to existing infrastructure.

Facilities

HY02 uses a spar-buoy floating foundation anchored by catenary mooring lines connected to seabed anchors. The turbine is equipped with an offshore wind generator, rotor blades, pitch and yaw systems, and onboard control electronics. Electrical power is exported through dynamic cables to a shared subsea electrical system connecting to the host platforms. The unit operates unmanned and is monitored remotely. There are no drilling, processing, or storage facilities. Design emphasis is on long-term structural stability, fatigue resistance, and compatibility with offshore oil and gas power systems. The turbine contributes to reduced fuel gas consumption and lower emissions at the connected installations.
