Martin Linge B

Martin Linge B is a floating storage unit (FSU) associated with the Martin Linge field in the northern North Sea, in service since 30 June 2021. It functions primarily for hydrocarbon offloading and storage. It complements the Martin Linge integrated production platform and supports export logistics for oil.

Field

The Martin Linge field lies 42-km west of the Oseberg area in the northern North Sea. Discovered in 1978 and developed with a fixed production platform and associated storage, it produces gas, condensate, and oil from Jurassic reservoirs, with rich gas exported via pipeline to the UK and oil/condensate offloaded from the FSU to shuttle tankers.

Facilities

Martin Linge B serves as a dedicated oil storage and offloading vessel tied to the Martin Linge platform development. The integrated field concept includes a steel jacket topside handling production separation and export functions with subsea and platform wells. Gas produced is conditioned and exported via a dedicated pipeline to the Frigg UK system, whereas liquids and oil are stored on the FSU. The FSU incorporates storage tanks, mooring and offloading facilities, metering and custody transfer systems for shuttle tankers, and safety systems appropriate for volatile hydrocarbons. Utility support includes power (shore-supplied through a long subsea cable), control systems linked to the platform, flare and emergency shut-down systems, and interface equipment for export connections. The infrastructure is designed for continuous field export operations with stable storage and transfer capabilities.
