Zeebrugge
The Zeebrugge terminal in Belgium is a major onshore liquefied natural gas (LNG) and gas handling facility serving North Sea and global supplies. Commissioned in 1987, it receives, stores, regasifies and exports LNG via pipelines to continental markets. It also interfaces with pipeline networks including Zeepipe gas pipelines from Norway.

Linked to the broader North Sea gas network through Zeepipe infrastructure, Zeebrugge serves as a key European natural gas gateway. Gas arriving from offshore fields (e.g., via Zeepipe from Sleipner/Troll areas) is integrated and delivered into Belgian and neighboring gas grids.
Facilities
Zeebrugge comprises LNG storage tanks (multiple large capacity tanks), regasification trains, vapourisers, and send-out facilities into the national and trans-European grid. LNG carriers are unloaded at jetties with cryogenic handling systems, LNG is stored, then regasified via submerged combustion vaporizers or other heat exchange systems. The terminal includes high-pressure pipeline connections to Belgium's transmission network and receives offshore gas via the Zeepipe system. Utilities encompass electrical power, vapour handling, boil-off management, metering stations, emergency systems and control/SCADA functions. The facility handles peak shaving, storage balancing and cross-border gas flows.
