Den Helder is connected to the Dutch continental shelf and North Sea pipeline network, supporting fields such as so-called Dutch blocks and export routes into continental European gas grids. It serves as a service location for operators but does not have its own reservoir.
Facilities
Den Helder's infrastructure includes harbour facilities capable of servicing offshore support vessels, platform supply boats, and drilling rigs. It has pipeline reception and distribution interfaces tied into onshore gas networks and compressor stations, as well as storage tanks for fuels and chemicals used in offshore operations. Support facilities comprise crew change terminals, maintenance yards, warehouses, and administrative centers. Den Helder is also integrated into the European gas network via pipelines linking to the Dutch transmission system but does not produce or process hydrocarbons itself.
