Cruden Bay connects to the Forties crude oil pipeline that starts at the Forties Charlie platform via the Forties Unity riser platform. Oil from multiple North Sea fields is gathered into this pipeline and brought ashore at Cruden Bay before onward processing and export.
Facilities
Cruden Bay's infrastructure comprises the marine-to-onshore transition of the Forties Pipeline System, including subsea pipeline reception facilities, pig launchers/receivers, and manifold connections for onward flow to processing terminals. The Forties pipeline is ~169-km, 36-inch diameter carrying crude to shore. After landfall, crude is routed via onshore pipeline to processing at Kinneil Terminal and storage/export at Dalmeny and Hound Point. Cruden Bay does not include separation, metering, or export loading itself but is vital for transferring hydrocarbons from deepwater subsea to onshore infrastructure.
