Alvheim FPSO
Floating Production, Storage and Offloading (FPSO) vessel serving the Alvheim area in the central Norwegian North Sea, processing both oil and gas. Converted from a tanker and installed in 2008, the FPSO stabilises and stores crude before export. It functions as the main processing hub for multiple tied-back subsea developments including Vilje, Volund, Bøyla, Skogul and Tyrving.

Field
The Alvheim area comprises several adjacent discoveries in the central North Sea, west of Heimdal near the UK sector. The reservoir is primarily Jurassic sandstone of the Garn, Not, Ile and Tilje formations at ~3,600-m subsea. The field's development includes subsea wells tied back to the central FPSO, with combined recoverable resources in the hundreds of millions of barrels of oil equivalent.
Facilities
The Alvheim FPSO processes hydrocarbons from subsea wells drilled in the area and tied back via flowlines and umbilicals. Production wells feed into the FPSO, where multiphase separation, crude stabilisation, and gas treatment occur. Oil is stored onboard and lifted by shuttle tankers; rich gas is exported via subsea pipeline to the Scottish Area Gas Evacuation (SAGE) system on the UK continental shelf. Utility systems include onboard power generation, produced water handling, and safety systems compliant with Norwegian Continental Shelf regulations. The vessel also supports water injection and gas lift operations to maintain reservoir pressure, and extensive control and automation systems manage subsea and topside processes.
