Easington comprises separation, metering, odorisation and pressure control facilities to condition incoming natural gas to meet UK National Transmission System specifications. It connects to domestic offshore fields via pipelines as well as serving as the receiving point for Norwegian gas transported through the Langeled pipeline, one of the longest subsea export pipelines globally. Processing includes condensate removal, dehydration, odorisation and temperature/pressure regulation. Gas quality monitoring and fiscal metering systems ensure accurate accounting prior to injection into the transmission grid. Utility systems include high-capacity compressors, electrical power and safety shutdown mechanisms. Integration with storage facilities such as the Rough terminal supports supply balancing and peak demand management.
