Valhall WP

Valhall WP is a fixed wellhead platform in the Valhall oil field in the southern Norwegian North Sea. Installed in 1996 with 19 well slots, it extends the field's production capacity and connects via bridges to other field centre installations. It produces oil and associated gas for processing and export.

Field

The Valhall field, discovered in 1975, produces oil from Upper Cretaceous Hod and Tor Formation chalk reservoirs in ~70-m water depth. Early development began in 1982. The field centre comprises multiple bridge-linked platforms handling drilling, production and utilities.

Facilities

Valhall WP provides multiple well slots feeding production from dense chalk reservoirs. Wellstreams are routed to central production and processing platforms via bridge-connected pipe racks, with crude oil stabilized and exported by pipeline to the Ekofisk Centre and onward to Teesside (UK), and gas exported via Norpipe to Emden (Germany). WP includes basic separation at the wellhead interface, flow control, and injection capacity for gas lift where applied. The structure ties into Valhall's bridge-linked network of drilling, processing and quarters platforms, sharing power, water handling and safety systems. Utilities include electrical power distribution, emergency shutdown and firewater, with control systems integrated across the field centre. The installation supports long-term production and well interventions with robust platform systems for flow and reservoir management.
