Mongstad
Mongstad is an onshore crude oil terminal and refinery complex in western Norway, commissioned in the late 1980s. It receives crude oil from North Sea offshore fields (Gullfaks, Statfjord, Draugen, Norne, Åsgard , Heidrun), storing and processing it for refining, export and feedstock. The site also hosts significant CO- capture/testing facilities.

Mongstad serves as a major collection point for offshore crude and stabilised condensate, receiving flows from multiple North Sea field pipelines (Troll B/C, Johan Sverdrup) and tanker deliveries. The terminal supports storage, fractionation and distribution to global markets.
Facilities
The Mongstad complex includes storage caverns and above-ground tanks with large capacity, crude processing units for fractionation, desalting, and stabilisation, and jetties capable of accommodating supertankers. The refinery functions together with terminal storage and export logistics, enabling crude blending and delivery into refining units or pipeline networks. The site hosts the Technology Centre Mongstad (TCM), a leading testbed for CO- capture technologies. Utilities encompass power systems, steam generation, flare systems, wastewater handling, and advanced control centres for terminal and refinery operations. Infrastructure interfaces with offshore export pipelines and shipping channels, and includes marine berths for large crude carriers. Environmental control systems manage emissions, effluents and safety.
