K7-FA-1 is a fixed steel jacket gas production and wellhead platform in the Southern North Sea (Netherlands sector). Installed in the early 1980s, it serves as the primary host for K7 field production and supports gas gathering and export. It connects physically to nearby satellite platforms K7-FD-1 and K7-FB via subsea pipelines.

Field

The K7 field lies in Block K7 of the Southern North Sea, producing conventional natural gas from Rotliegendes sandstone reservoirs. Discovered in 1969 and developed in the late 1970s/early 1980s, it forms part of the K7-K12 cluster of Dutch North Sea gas fields, characterised by high-calorific gas quality and multiple interconnected installations.

Facilities

K7-FA-1 hosts multiple production wells drilled into the K7 reservoir and serves as a central hub for gathering gas from its own wells and adjacent satellites (K7-FD-1, K7-FB). The topsides include primary separation systems to remove water and condensate, inlet scrubbers, and export compression to maintain pipeline pressure. Gas is exported via an 18-inch pipeline to K8-FA-1 then onward to larger processing hubs. Utilities include on-platform power generation (typically gas turbines or gensets), produced-water handling, and control systems for unmanned or minimally manned operation. Well control is via subsea or platform Christmas trees tied back to the main deck. Structural design is fixed jacket to support drilling, processing modules, and helideck.
