K12-BD

K12-BD is a fixed normally unmanned gas wellhead satellite platform in the K12 block of the Dutch North Sea, installed circa 1983. It provides gas well access and gathers production flows from its assigned wells, routing them via subsea flowlines into the central K7-K12 gas infrastructure for processing and export.

Field

The K12 area forms part of the K7-K12 gas fields in the Southern North Sea, producing conventional gas from Rotliegendes sandstone reservoirs. Multiple satellites and hubs, including K12-BD, have been developed to efficiently drain the field.

Facilities

K12-BD's facility comprises production wellheads, manifolds, and flowlines connecting into the wider K-block pipeline network. The platform includes minimal separation or conditioning, typically routing hydrocarbons to larger processing hubs like K12-BP or other central installations. Unmanned operation is supported by remote monitoring, emergency shutdown, and safety systems. Electrical power is usually provided by generator sets sized for control and communications loads. Utility systems encompass instrument air, basic lighting, fire/gas detection, and safety shutdown. Subsea infrastructure includes risers and flowlines with corrosion protection and regular inspection schedules. Export infrastructure integrates with regional pipelines conveying gas to onshore treaters and distribution systems. Periodic maintenance by support vessels sustains topside and subsea integrity.
