Lunskoye-A

Lunskoye-A is an ice-resistant concrete gravity-based drilling and gas-production platform handling gas, condensate and associated liquids. First gas entered the Sakhalin-2 pipeline system in 2008. Located 15 kilometres off north-eastern Sakhalin in approximately 48 metres of water, it performs limited offshore separation and sends multiphase production through two pipelines to the Onshore Processing Facility.

Field

The giant Lunskoye gas-condensate field lies in the Sea of Okhotsk within the North Sakhalin Basin. Its principal reservoir is the Middle Miocene Daghinsky sandstone succession, divided into ten productive layers separated by siltstone intervals. The development uses large-bore platform wells drilled from Lunskoye-A, with full gas and condensate treatment undertaken onshore before pipeline transport to southern Sakhalin.

Facilities

Lunskoye-A provides 30 well slots within an integrated drilling, production, utilities and accommodation installation. The initial development programme completed seven large-bore gas wells from the platform. Wellheads occupy a dedicated compartment inside the south-eastern concrete leg, while the north-eastern leg contains the pipeline risers; the remaining legs house auxiliary equipment. Internal heating protects equipment located inside the gravity-base legs from freezing. Offshore processing is deliberately limited. Installed facilities include production and test manifolds, free-water separation, liquid handling, chemical storage and injection, metering and multiphase export. Major gas treatment, condensate processing and export conditioning are performed at the Sakhalin-2 Onshore Processing Facility. The topsides also carry drilling equipment, electrical generation and distribution, flare and pressure-relief systems, process control, emergency shutdown, fire-and-gas detection, firewater, communications, cranes, helideck and accommodation. Two 30-inch multiphase export pipelines run approximately 13.5 kilometres from Lunskoye-A to the coast and continue about seven kilometres onshore to the processing facility. A separate monoethylene-glycol service line supports hydrate control in the export system. At the Onshore Processing Facility, gas, condensate and water are separated and treated. Sales gas and stabilised liquids then enter the parallel Trans-Sakhalin pipelines extending south to Prigorodnoye. Gas supplies the Prigorodnoye LNG plant, while condensate and oil enter the Oil Export Terminal for offshore tanker loading. The platform has no hydrocarbon-storage tanks or direct tanker-offloading system.
