Liza Phase 2 comprises 30 subsea wells across six drill centres: 15 oil producers, nine water injectors and six gas injectors. Subsea trees are clustered around production and injection manifolds. Flowlines, flexible risers and electro-hydraulic umbilicals connect the manifolds to Liza Unity and provide fluid transportation, well control, monitoring and chemical delivery. The FPSO separates oil, associated gas and produced water. Installed facilities provide crude treatment and stabilisation, gas dehydration and compression, produced-water treatment, seawater treatment and high-pressure water injection. Processed gas supplies onboard fuel and is compressed for reinjection through the field’s gas-injection wells. Permanent systems also include chemical injection, process and fiscal metering, electrical generation and distribution, flare and pressure relief, firewater, fire-and-gas detection, emergency shutdown, subsea control, telecommunications, cargo handling and accommodation. Liza Unity is the first operating FPSO based on the Fast4Ward newbuild multi-purpose-floater hull. Nineteen topside modules are installed above the double-hull storage structure. The vessel is spread-moored to seabed anchor piles rather than connected to a turret and has storage for approximately two million barrels of crude. Stabilised oil is transferred to shuttle or export tankers positioned astern through the tandem-offloading arrangement. The original Phase 2 design has no permanent oil pipeline to shore; associated gas is principally retained for fuel and reservoir reinjection.
