Liza Phase 1 comprises 17 subsea wells distributed across four drill centres: eight oil producers, six water injectors and three gas injectors. Subsea production and injection trees are grouped around manifolds and connected to Liza Destiny by flowlines, flexible risers and electro-hydraulic control umbilicals. The umbilicals provide hydraulic control, communications and chemical services to the seabed equipment. The converted VLCC carries 14 topside modules. Installed process functions include multiphase separation, crude-oil treatment and stabilisation, associated-gas treatment and compression, produced-water handling, seawater treatment and high-pressure water injection. Compressed gas is used as FPSO fuel and reinjected through dedicated gas-injection wells. Permanent supporting systems include chemical injection, production and export metering, onboard electrical generation and distribution, flare and pressure-relief equipment, firewater, fire-and-gas detection, emergency shutdown, subsea control, telecommunications, marine systems and living quarters. The vessel is approximately 334 metres long, 58 metres wide and 31 metres deep. A spread-mooring system keeps it on station without a weathervaning turret. Its cargo tanks store approximately 1.6 million barrels of stabilised crude. Export tankers position astern and receive oil through the FPSO’s tandem-offloading system. Liza Destiny has no fixed crude-oil export pipeline to shore; the original development manages associated gas through fuel use and reservoir reinjection.
