Gumusut-Kakap
Gumusut-Kakap is a purpose-built, spread-moored semi-submersible floating production system handling oil and associated gas offshore Sabah, Malaysia. Full-field production through the permanent host began in 2014, following early production through the Kikeh FPSO in 2012. Anchored in approximately 1,200 metres of water, it processes subsea production and exports crude by pipeline to the Sabah Oil and Gas Terminal at Kimanis.

Field
The Gumusut and Kakap accumulations lie in deep-water Blocks J and K, about 120 kilometres offshore Sabah on the north-western Borneo margin. They form a large oil development within the Sabah deep-water fold-and-thrust province. Public technical descriptions identify deep-marine clastic reservoirs arranged in structurally complex faulted and folded traps. Development uses clustered subsea wells, manifolds and injection support tied to one central semi-submersible host.
Facilities
The original full-field system was designed around 19 subsea wells connected to the Gumusut-Kakap semi-FPS through production, water-injection and gas-injection flowlines, steel catenary risers and electro-hydraulic control umbilicals. Seven subsea manifolds were identified for the initial development architecture. Later phases added further subsea production and injection wells, including cross-border tie-backs, while retaining Gumusut-Kakap as the named host facility. Topsides equipment separates oil, gas and produced water, conditions crude for pipeline export, compresses associated gas and supports both gas lift and gas injection. Seawater treatment and high-pressure water-injection facilities provide reservoir-pressure support. Installed systems also include produced-water handling, production and injection metering, chemical injection, flare and relief equipment, power generation, process and subsea control, fire-and-gas detection, emergency shutdown, seawater lift, firewater, marine utilities and accommodation. The semi-submersible has no export crude-storage function comparable with an FPSO. Stabilised oil is pumped through the permanent Gumusut-Kakap–Kimanis oil pipeline, an approximately 200-kilometre, 18-inch line terminating at the Sabah Oil and Gas Terminal at Kimanis. Associated gas was designed principally for compression, injection, gas lift and platform fuel rather than routine tanker export. The four-column hull is held by a multi-point spread-mooring system and was designed to remain on station for 30 years. Its open-water, deep-draft configuration supports the topsides while accommodating the riser system around the central facility.
