Goodwyn A was designed for up to 30 wells, including five reinjection wells, and incorporates drilling, production, utilities and accommodation within an integrated topsides arrangement. The original development included long-reach, horizontal and deviated platform wells extending several kilometres from the jacket. The platform also receives production from subsea developments, including Echo–Yodel through a 23-kilometre, 12-inch pipeline and Greater Western Flank Phase 2 through an approximately 36-kilometre gathering pipeline serving four subsea drill centres. Incoming platform and subsea well fluids are processed by dedicated gas-dehydration and condensate-dewatering systems. A gas-recycling installation reinjects processed gas to support condensate recovery, while produced formation water is treated before permitted discharge. Permanent facilities also include production and test manifolds, compression, metering, chemical injection, operational and emergency flaring, drilling support, electrical generation and distribution, process control, fire-and-gas detection, emergency shutdown and accommodation. Processed gas and condensate leave Goodwyn A through the permanent subsea export connection to North Rankin A, approximately 23 kilometres north-east. At the North Rankin Complex, the Goodwyn stream is commingled with other North West Shelf production before travelling through the offshore trunkline to the Karratha Gas Plant on the Burrup Peninsula. The platform is more than 290 metres tall, weighs about 55,000 tonnes and is secured to the seabed by 36 piles, a configuration designed for the region’s cyclone environment.
